Asset Optimisation and Trading (AOT) is the Business Division where all asset optimisation and trading activities are centralised for the Vattenfall Group. We are located in multiple sites across Europe with more than 600 professionals working from Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Poland. We trade the full range of energy commodities, take responsibility for a diversified sourcing of power, fuels and carbon credits and optimise and hedge Vattenfall’s production assets. Within AOT, the Business Unit Asset Optimisation Continental is responsible for production planning, dispatching, logistics, settlement and balancing as well as the hedging strategy for Vattenfall’s production assets in Continental Europe. These activities are the basis to manage risk efficiently and optimise the portfolio value.

The Vattenfall business model is based on a value chain split into production (power plants), Asset Optimisation and Trading, distribution, sales and services. Vattenfall Energy Trading is the central internal market place between the Business Units, which provides a complete trading infrastructure and which is responsible for access to energy wholesale markets. These activities are managed by the Central Functions Team in the AO department.
